THE SOCIOECONOMIC PROFILE OF USERS AND NON-USERS OF HOME AUTOMATION IN MANAUS: EXPECTATIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE SECTOR

The smart home market has grown more and more in recent years and this new technological trend has proven to be irreversible. Therefore, this work aims to analyze the profile of consumers who have adopted home automation, as well as those who intend to acquire it or even who are not yet interested in this trend in order to identify opportunities in this type of market. As a methodology, the research is characterized as applied, descriptive and data collection in which questionnaires were applied to 177 people, including users and non-users of smart homes in the city of Manaus - AM, in the period from August 31 to September 10, 2024. Among the main results found are that users of this type of technology are, for the most part, young adults aged 30 to 39, women with postgraduate degrees and familiarity with technology. The safety item was the main reason for adopting the technology and there is still little adoption by people with disabilities, despite the evident usefulness presented for this consumer group. The financial barrier can be considered a determinant for consumer non-adherence, especially for those who have not yet realized the usefulness that this type of good offers. Finally, despite the existence of a public that is averse to this new technology and resistant to change, the research found non-users willing to make some type of investment, demonstrating a portion of the potential market that has not yet been explored.
