This research aimed to analyze public policies and legal mechanisms aimed at promoting inclusive education in Brazilian schools, highlighting their advances, challenges and perspectives. Using a qualitative and exploratory approach, semi-structured questionnaires were applied to 25 education professionals, including teachers and school administrators, with practical experience in inclusion. The results revealed that, although Brazilian legislation on inclusion is considered advanced, its application still faces several obstacles, such as the lack of adequate infrastructure, the lack of adapted pedagogical resources, insufficient teacher training and the persistence of cultural barriers. In addition, the participants indicated the need for greater involvement of the school community and strengthening of legal support to ensure the effectiveness of educational rights. The conclusion indicates that, in order to consolidate inclusive education, it is essential to integrate efforts that involve continuous investment, critical training of professionals and a cultural change that values diversity as a fundamental principle of educational practice.
