Abstract

Considering the importance of school as a space for integral development, coexistence and the construction of health-related habits, this study discusses health promotion in the school environment through health literacy and educational actions. It aims to analyze how health literacy and educational practices contribute to the development of autonomy, self-care and informed decision-making among children and adolescents. To this end, a narrative literature review was conducted, with a qualitative and descriptive approach, based on scientific articles, official documents and epidemiological data on school health, the School Health Program, students’ health behaviors and educational actions. In this way, it is observed that topics such as nutrition, physical activity, bullying, mental health, sexuality, vaccination and the use of technologies require continuous, participatory and contextualized interventions. It is concluded that the articulation between school, family, community and health services strengthens more effective educational practices and contributes to the formation of students who are more critical, autonomous and aware of health care.
