Population aging is a growing phenomenon in Brazil and worldwide, making comprehensive care for the elderly a central challenge for health services. The Family Health Strategy (FHS) constitutes the main primary care policy, providing continuous, humanized, and territorially-based care. Nursing plays a crucial role in this context, acting in assessment, clinical follow-up, health education, and psychosocial support for the elderly. This study presents a literature review on the role of nursing in the FHS focused on elderly care, discussing practices, challenges, and perspectives for improving primary care.
