SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINANTS AND RISK HABITS FOR HYPERTENSION IN YOUNG PEOPLE

Hypertension is a significant public health problem, characterized by high prevalence, impact on morbidity and mortality, and a strong association with cardiovascular diseases. Traditionally linked to older adults, there is a significant increase among young people, driven by socio-environmental determinants and risk habits such as sedentary lifestyle, inadequate diet, alcohol and tobacco consumption. It is a chronic, multifactorial, and often asymptomatic condition, which favors late diagnosis and the emergence of complications. This study is justified by the need to understand the influence of these factors on youth, supporting public policies, preventive strategies, and health promotion actions aimed at the early control of hypertension. The study investigates socio-environmental determinants of hypertension in young people, analyzing the role of health professionals in cardiovascular surveillance and the effectiveness of educational programs in promoting healthy habits. The systematic review analyzed evidence from 2021 to 2026 on socio-environmental determinants and risk habits associated with hypertension in young people, using a rigorous, transparent, and reproducible method. Socio-environmental determinants influence hypertension early in young people by shaping lifestyles, access to care, and risk behaviors. The actions of primary care and integrated educational programs strengthen surveillance, cardiovascular prevention, and the promotion of healthy habits. It is concluded that hypertension in young people is multifactorial and socially determined, requiring integrated policies, territorialized surveillance, qualified primary care, participatory health education, and sustainable intersectoral actions.
