Abstract

Objectives: This systematic review aims to analyze the relationship between Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods: Articles published in the PubMed database were compiled to synthesize the scientific evidence. Results: Given the anatomical complexity of the orofacial region and the overlapping symptoms, support is needed to confirm the presence or absence of dysfunction (TMD). Conclusions: MRI is indispensable and provides greater patient comfort; by not requiring excessive mouth opening at certain stages, it avoids muscle stress and increases the accuracy of the anamnesis.
