HUMAN LANGUAGE AS A COMPLEX VITAL PHENOMENON: INTEGRATION OF SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY AND BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES FOR AN INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH

This article proposes a theoretical-reflective approach to human language, conceiving it as a complex vital phenomenon that integrates biological, sociocultural, and ethical dimensions. Historically fragmented between organic reductionism and social constructionism, language is analyzed here through the lens of interdisciplinarity between Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and Biological Sciences. The biological foundation highlights neural plasticity, body-brain integration, and embodied cognition as the pillars of communicative capacity. Simultaneously, the cultural dimension is addressed through the dialogic nature and social mediation of language, while the ethical dimension is established as the axis of responsibility and alterity inherent in the linguistic act. The study concludes that Speech-Language Pathology acts as a strategic epistemological field, capable of articulating these knowledges to develop clinical and educational practices that promote communicative functionality, social inclusion, and integral human development, overcoming fragmented views in favor of a systemic understanding of communication.
