Abstract

Since the dawn of humanity, mathematics in its various forms has proven essential for understanding the world and the development of humankind. Furthermore, its use can be seen in Christian religious contexts, such as the Bible. Therefore, the following question was posed: What elements of mathematics are found in religious documents related to Christianity? To obtain elements and arguments that could contribute positively to answering this question, the objective: to present excerpts from documents of Christian origin that reveal the use of mathematical content. The research was classified, in terms of its approach, as qualitative, since its objective is to develop a greater understanding of a subject or question; in terms of its objectives, as exploratory, since it explores possibilities and scenarios from various perspectives in order to gain familiarity with a situation; and in terms of its procedures, as bibliographic, since it was carried out based on a survey of theoretical references and a bibliographic review of publications in physical or electronic media. It has been observed that the apparent antithesis between the deductive rationality of mathematics and the invisible foundation of Faith dissolves in the practice and evolution of human knowledge. In this scenario, the inclusion of fundamental mathematical concepts such as measurements, proportions, fractions, and sequences has been observed in documents that underpin the Christian faith, confirming that the science of numbers is an inseparable dimension of human experience, even in religious contexts.
