MICROPIGMENTATION AS A TOOL TO RESCUE SELF-ESTEEM IN POST-PLASTIC SURGERY PATIENTS

Abstract

Paramedical micropigmentation stands out as a relevant technique in the aesthetic and psychosocial rehabilitation of women who have undergone mastectomy. This study aimed to analyze its impact on patients’ self-esteem, self-image, and overall well-being, highlighting technical, symbolic, and accessibility aspects. Through a literature review, it was identified that the procedure, by restoring the appearance of the nipple-areola complex, significantly contributes to the reconstruction of body identity and the recovery of personal and social confidence. The findings indicate that the naturalness of the final effect, technical precision, and the use of appropriate pigments are determining factors for patient satisfaction, as well as attention to the individual characteristics of each case. In addition to aesthetic benefits, micropigmentation acts as a symbolic milestone of overcoming, closing the oncological treatment cycle and assisting in the process of social reintegration. It was observed that the technique presents a low rate of complications when performed by qualified professionals, with biosafety protocols and multidisciplinary follow-up. Its accessibility, combined with relatively low cost, broadens the reach to different socioeconomic profiles, favoring the democratization of access to rehabilitation care. The study concludes that paramedical micropigmentation represents a tool with lasting positive impact, integrating science, art, and human care, and is recommended as an integral part of post-mastectomy rehabilitation protocols for its contribution to the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
