Abstract

Autism was first described by Eugen Bleuler in 1911 and later deepened by Leo Kanner in 1943, who associated the disorder with symptoms such as social isolation and repetitive behaviors. In 1944, Hans Asperger complemented the studies, highlighting the prevalence in males and specific skills. The term "autism spectrum" emerged to encompass the diversity of symptoms. The inclusion of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in regular schools is essential for social and personal development. Although the diagnosis of ASD has advanced, there are still debates about its causes, with genetic and environmental factors under study.
