Abstract

This paper presents a brief literature review on nursing care in mental health for adolescents in the postpartum period. The postpartum period represents a unique experience for women, and is equally relevant for everyone around them, requiring special care throughout this time. This study was conducted based on readings of articles and books related to this topic from June 2024 to May 2025, in which 15 articles were analyzed through indexing and content comparison. The methodology used consists of a literature review in the Lilacs, Medline, Virtual Health Library (BVS), Scielo, and Google Scholar databases. In Medline, Lilacs, and Scielo, with the addition of other readings: journal articles and monographs. The objective of this study is to discuss nursing care in mental health during the postpartum period in adolescence, with the aim of carefully analyzing the mental health of postpartum women, identifying signs of conditions such as postpartum depression, and identifying risk factors present for the development of postpartum depression. It is concluded that there is a significant need to provide quality nursing care from the pregnancy cycle to the postpartum period, promoting humanization actions during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, with the aim of reducing the risk of developing depression during the gestational and postpartum periods.
