THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE PRESERVATION OF TRADITIONAL CAPE VERDEAN MUSIC

Abstract

This study examines how artificial intelligence applications can be designed and governed to support the preservation of Cape Verdean traditional music, articulating documentation, curatorial and legal safeguarding strategies based on a critical review of Brazilian literature and sector reports, identification of methodological gaps and the proposal of operational protocols that prioritize community participation, ethnographic annotation and algorithmic diversity metrics, aiming to increase archive retrievability, protect collective rights and promote intergenerational educational processes, it provides practical recommendations for pilot projects that combine hybrid models of automatic indexing and human validation, transparency mechanisms and monitoring dashboards, and suggests governance pathways that secure informed consent, benefit sharing and local technical training, concluding that the conjunction of technology and community agency is essential for a living, contextualized and socially legitimate preservation.
