L-PRF, from the English term Leukocyte-Platelet Rich Fibrin, meaning Fibrin Rich in Platelets and Leukocytes, is a biomaterial obtained through the controlled centrifugation of the patient’s blood, resulting in a fibrin mesh rich in platelets and leukocytes. This platelet concentrate possesses regenerative properties that accelerate tissue healing and regeneration and, therefore, has been used in various medical procedures, especially in dentistry and surgery. The objective of this literature review is to highlight the benefits of this important technological discovery and to present how the L-PRF membrane has been applied within the main areas of dentistry. For the development of the study, searches were conducted in journals, magazines, undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral theses published on Google Scholar and Capes Journals. Overall, the analyzed results highlight L-PRF as a resource that is easy to obtain, low in cost, and widely applicable clinically, with the potential to improve therapeutic outcomes in different areas of dentistry. Based on the collected and presented information, we emphasize that this work provides the necessary support for dental surgeons to better understand the therapeutic potential of this biomaterial and to incorporate it more safely and knowledgeably into clinical practice.
