Abstract

A 58-year-old male patient was referred to a private practice for endodontic treatment of tooth 37. He reported that he had been seen by a dentist to relieve his toothache, but that the dentist had not completed the case due to the complexity of the dental anatomy. The radiograph revealed atretic canals, and attempts to locate the canals with a drill reached the distal canal, as well as a small portion of the pulp floor. Treatment was performed with special C-Pilot and Glide Path files to achieve canal patency. Biomechanical preparation was performed with a Solla Purple 25.06 file in the mesial canals and a 35.04 file in the distal canal. Irrigation was performed with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite. The filling was performed using the single cone technique combined with Sealer Plus cement. It is concluded that Solla Purple instruments provide adequate shaping of atretic root canals, resulting in a hermetic obturation of the root canal system.
