PROPOSAL FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE 5S PROGRAM IN THE 12TH MILITARY FIRE BATTALION OF PARANÁ

Abstract

Fire Departments are globally recognized and respected institutions due to their mission of saving lives, always acting with ethics, discipline, and social commitment. In the current context, both public and private organizations seek continuous improvement, either to enhance competitiveness or to increase citizen satisfaction. The 12th Military Fire Battalion of Paraná, located in Guarapuava-PR, maintains a strong commitment to excellence in emergency response and has invested in human capital, infrastructure, vehicles, and modern equipment. In this scenario, the implementation of a quality management program becomes essential, with the 5S method as the initial step toward significant improvements. This article proposes the adoption of 5S in the 12th Battalion, focusing on the organization of the headquarters and vehicles, aiming at waste reduction, elimination of rework, process agility, a more pleasant work environment, cost reduction, stronger teamwork, and improved quality of services provided to the population.
