RETREATMENT OF LOWER MOLAR WITH RECIPROCATING SOLLA FILE R25 IN THE MESIAL CANALS AND R40 IN THE DISTAL CANAL

The objective of this study was to describe a case of single-session endodontic retreatment in a tooth with chronic apical periodontitis. A 49-year-old patient reported pain during chewing and vertical percussion in the lower left first molar (37) during anamnesis. Radiographically, the presence of filling material below the appropriate apical limit (underfilling) and a double-curved mesial root were observed. Root canal retreatment was proposed for the patient, and after anesthesia, a coronal opening and appropriate convenience form were performed. Gutta-percha was removed with a Solla reciprocating file R25 in the mesial canals and R40 in the distal canal. Foraminal electronic odontometry was performed with the Root Zx Mini Apex Locator. The irrigating substance used was 2.5% sodium hypochlorite. The distal canal was repaired with a Solla File reciprocating file #R50, and due to the double curvature of the mesial root, a file #R25 was reused. The root canal system was obturated using the single cone and vertical condensation technique, combined with AH-Plus Jet sealer. It is concluded that endodontic retreatment is feasible with the use of Solla Files Reciprocating files.
