Abstract

The work in question aims to understand media, culture and identity in modernity and post-modernity, as well as the relationships that these terms have, through their transformations. To this end, it uses the precepts of authors such as Stuart Hall, Michel Maffesoli, Néstor García Canclini, John B Thompson and Jesus Martín-Barbero. Throughout the reflection, we follow the transformations that these concepts have undergone (and still undergo). In post-modernity, concepts change, barriers disappear or diminish. Identity is fragmented and culture becomes hybridized. Culture and media also work together in the construction and knowledge of the subject. We analyze this process, remembering that “post” does not mean overcoming, cult does not mean modern, traditional does not mean outdated, identities are not stable and media are not just means.
