PSYCHIATRIC NURSING IN THE APPROACH TO PATIENTS WITH ANXIETY DISORDER

Abstract

Anxiety disorders represent one of the most prevalent mental health conditions in the global population, significantly impacting individuals' functionality and quality of life. This high incidence requires specialized attention and comprehensive care from mental health professionals, with emphasis on the role of psychiatric nursing. Nurses, due to their proximity to the patient and their holistic view of care, play an important role in the management of these disorders, from early identification to psychosocial rehabilitation. In this context, psychiatric nursing has established itself as an essential area for offering comprehensive support, promoting adherence to treatment, and developing strategies to minimize the suffering caused by anxiety. The complexity of anxiety disorders and the need for continuous and personalized care justify in-depth research on nursing practices in this field. Given the relevance of the topic and the need to improve clinical interventions, this study aims to analyze the role of psychiatric nursing in approaching patients with anxiety disorders, highlighting the main therapeutic strategies used in care. Understanding the most effective interventions and recognizing the role of psychiatric nurses are essential to qualify mental health care and contribute to the recovery and well-being of patients. To this end, a qualitative literature review will be conducted, seeking to synthesize the knowledge produced on the subject in the last ten years.
