FINANCIAL EDUCATION APPLIED TO MILITARY POLICE OFFICERS OF TOCANTINS: DIAGNOSIS BASED ON SECONDARY DATA AND PROPOSAL FOR A DISCIPLINE IN PMTO TRAINING COURSES

Considering the significant income commitment of military police officers in Tocantins and the absence of structured financial education programs in the PMTO, this study aims to analyze the income commitment profile of 2,557 military police officers from five career tracks, based on public secondary data from the Tocantins State Transparency Portal for July 2025 and January 2026, and to propose the formal inclusion of a Financial Education discipline in PMTO training courses. Results show that total payroll deductions commit between 37.1% and 52.7% of gross salaries, with Miscellaneous Deductions present for 100% of officers in both periods. Based on 120 financial planning simulations calibrated by actual average net salaries, saving 10–20% of net income could accumulate R$ 70,861 to R$ 2,227,785 over 10–30 years at a 5% p.a. real return. The article proposes a 40-hour Financial Education discipline (20h in-person + 20h EaD) in partnership with FPTO, advancing over previous studies that lacked empirical Tocantins data and formalized curricular proposals.
