Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) represent a major challenge in large hospitals, directly affecting patient safety, hospital costs, and quality indicators. This article aims to analyze recent scientific literature on infection control in large healthcare institutions, focusing on prevention strategies, the role of Infection Control Committees, and contemporary challenges. This is a descriptive and exploratory literature review based on studies published between 2019 and 2024. The findings highlight that evidence-based protocols, continuing education, and multidisciplinary collaboration are essential to reduce HAIs and improve patient safety.
