Abstract

This work presents the technical design of a 500 kVA photovoltaic solar power plant, intended for a rural consumer located in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná. The system was designed using 550 Wp photovoltaic modules installed on the ground, totaling an installed capacity of 462 kWp. The system is connected to the electrical grid through a 13.8 kV medium voltage substation with an oil transformer. The project follows the technical standards of ABNT and the regulatory requirements of ANEEL and the local utility company (COPEL), covering aspects such as solar radiation studies, system sizing criteria, equipment selection, energy performance analysis, and economic feasibility. The estimated annual generation is approximately 692,661 kWh, enough to meet the property’s entire energy demand. The economic analysis shows an investment return (payback) of less than 3 years, highlighting the technical and financial viability of the system. The implementation of solar power plants in rural areas represents a sustainable and economically attractive solution for cost reduction and energy independence.
