Oral health is closely linked to physical and mental well-being, being influenced by physiological, social, and psychological factors. Individuals with mental disorders, such as depression and anxiety, are more prone to poor oral hygiene and oral diseases due to neglect of self-care. Studies indicate that these conditions affect both quality of life and regularity in dental visits, highlighting the connection between mental and oral health. The main objective of this study was to analyze, through a literature review, how psychological disorders interfere with oral health, identifying factors that contribute to the development of oral diseases and proposing strategies to improve dental care in dialogue with mental health. The study is a qualitative and descriptive literature review that examines how anxiety and depression impact oral health. Research was selected from databases such as PubMed, SciELO, and Google Scholar, using specific inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure scientific relevance. Data analysis sought to identify patterns and gaps, aiming to contribute to dental practices integrated with mental health and the promotion of overall health.
