QUALITY OF LIFE AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALF WORKERS IN ONCOLOGY SERVICES

The quality of life and health of nursing workers in oncology are extremely relevant topics in view of the increase in cancer cases and the consequent demand for specialized care. Acting in this scenario requires technical and emotional preparation, as professionals deal with pain, suffering and death on a daily basis. The general objective of this study was to analyze how the oncology environment and demands impact the health and quality of life of nursing workers. As specific objectives, we sought to describe the integrative care offered, identify factors that influence the well-being of these professionals and analyze their motivations and challenges. The methodology adopted was a descriptive and qualitative literature review, with a bibliographic search carried out in databases such as Capes Journals, VHL, PubMed, and Google Scholar, covering the period from 2015 to 2025. Studies that directly addressed the health and quality of life of nurses working in oncology were included. The qualitative analysis of the data allowed the identification of risk factors, coping strategies, and significant emotional impacts. It is concluded that nursing professionals in oncology face intense emotional overload, but also develop resilience and meaning in their practice. Humanized care and integrative action strengthen the relationship with patients, despite the challenges. The importance of institutional policies that promote healthy environments and value these professionals is highlighted, to ensure not only their permanence, but also their physical and mental health.
