Abstract

This cross-sectional, descriptive, quantitative study aimed to investigate aspects of sexual and reproductive health, as well as socioeconomic and obstetric characteristics of women living along the riverbanks of the Mura Indigenous Community in the Autazes region of Amazonas. Data from 105 women treated by a multidisciplinary team during a volunteer mission were analyzed. The results revealed that 60% of the women were under 30 years of age, 90% had only elementary or high school education, and 61% were exclusively engaged in domestic activities. About 19% did not use any contraceptive method, and most used injectable hormonal methods. Most pregnancies were planned (58.1%), and 82.1% of women had their first pregnancy before the age of 20. High adherence to prenatal care was observed (95.6%), with a predominance of vaginal deliveries in hospitals (44.2%) and at home (33.7%). Obstetric complications were rarely reported. The data reinforce the need for public health strategies adapted to the riverside context, with an emphasis on access to contraceptive methods and health education.
