PUBLIC TRANSPARENCY IN MUNICIPALITIES: A LINK BETWEEN SOCIETY AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Abstract

This article corroborates the importance of public transparency in Brazilian municipalities, as a link between civil society and local governments, highlighting the importance of socioeconomic variables and their influence on the levels of public transparency. The results obtained reveal that municipalities with low socioeconomic indices influence the use of transparency as a tool to improve good management. This study contributes to reflect on the difficulties encountered in less developed municipalities, fostering improvement actions for the application of public transparency in less favored municipalities.
