THERAPEUTIC MANAGEMENT OF ODONTOGENIC MYXOMA: RECONSTRUCTION PROTOCOLS AND PROGNOSIS

This systematic review article aims to analyze the therapeutic management and identify the particularities of Odontogenic Myxoma (OM) in clinical cases. To this end, studies published in the last five years, indexed in the PubMed database, in English and Portuguese, focusing on the central theme, were selected. OM is a variable lesion, presenting in distinct forms, which makes computed tomography a preponderant examination in delimiting its extent. Regarding treatment, there are two approaches: radical and conservative; however, the conservative approach has not shown significant results. In short, the management of OM should prioritize resection, aiming to minimize the chances of recurrence. Although the prognosis presents excellent survival, this must be combined with aesthetic and functional reconstruction, and subsequent clinical and radiographic follow-up is indispensable.
